National Poetry Month Day 2: Bittersweet Desperation

Today’s prompt was Bittersweet Desperation and I used the Trimeric poem form. Enjoy.

Bittersweet Desperation

Elderberry wine in the dark shadows,
settling against the regret
and seeking solace in the arms
of fragmented, masquerade love

Settling against the regret
of an inconsolable longing,
lingering for that fairytale lie

and seeking solace in the arms
of reckless availability and deception
accepting the begrudged scraps

of fragmented, masquerade love
concealing repressed insecurity
covered in a lonely elderberry wine
