National Poetry Month Day 5: Elementary Confession

A bit of an odd free verse poem today, but this is what came from the prompt, Elementary Confession.

Elementary Confession

The sizzle of the gaslight glow,
piercing the thick London fog
kissed by the soft strains of a violin
as echoing footsteps drift
quietly past the Thames

A story weaves, tangible, hesitant,
the words colliding against
the sizzle of that gaslight glow
and the persistent swirl of haze

A tumbling admission, bathed red;
an unburdening of a condemned soul
beyond the sizzle of the gaslight glow
