Drabble Wednesday: The Punch Strikes Again

More silly fun with Frankie and Joni, as they close the New Year out with a party. Enjoy.

Dance the New Year Fandango

A cat meowed in my ear. I peeled my eyes open, trying not to moan from the searing pain in my head. Fluffernutter filled my vision, patting my cheek with a paw.
“Frankie,” I croaked. “Did someone press the big red button again?”
A groan came from my right. “No, but someone spiked the punch at the New Year’s Eve party.”
Flashes of memory surfaced. The disco, the dancing, the fireworks, the…costumes? “Frankie, did we dress up as Godzilla and Mothra and dance the tango?”
“Yes, at midnight.”
“Is there video?”
“No.”
“Then we will never speak of it again.”

Well, Duh.

I stared at the sheep standing in the holo-vid room. She bleated at me.
“Frankie! Why is Debbie still here? I know we invited her for the New Year’s party, but that was two days ago.”
“We had a glitch.” Frankie poked his head in the room.
“A ‘fixable’ glitch, or ‘we stranded Time Sheep out of her own dimension’ glitch?”
“A fixable one. Oswald misplaced the dimension hopper during the party. He’s searching, but I’m building a new one, just in case.”
“That doesn’t sound…wait, we have a dimension hopper?”
“Of course. How do you think Debbie got here?”

The Odd Games

“So why did the cows create a game show vid? And when?”
“They did it during the party, and it wasn’t just the cows. Fluffy, Fluffernutter, and Erik helped. I think Fluffy started the whole thing after he sipped the punch.”
“That stupid punch. What were they thinking?”
“It’s not that bad.”
“The games are crazy. Escape the giant lizard maze, battle flying monkeys, play zombie trivia with real zombies, all while suspended over a pit of lava.”
“It is a bit odd, I’ll admit, but the good news is that Corporate loved it.”
“Of course, they did.” I sighed.
