Corporate’s Big Idea

Yesterday in the lunchroom of Corporate Headquarters…

Our favourite two code technicians are eating steamed pistachio cakes covered in caramel and sipping on coconut lattes.
“Congrats, I hear your program got approved by the higher-ups. Something about a turtle musical?”
“Yeah, Timmy the turtle singing show tunes in a garden. Trying to capture more of the kids market.”
“You ran it through the new anti-virus software, right? Before you sent it? It’s the new mandate after we got hit last week.”
“Um, I guess. I mean I think someone did. And what are the chances even if it got missed…”

What the Pets Discovered

Still yesterday…

Fluffy frowned at the screen. He had been trying to hack into the western vids, but instead stumbled on an unusual, and worrisome, code running deep in the system.
“Eric, Fluffernutter, do you know what program corporate sent earlier? I was exercising on my wheel and missed this morning’s email.”
Fluffernutter yawned as he and the chicken walked over to Fluffy’s console. “Some musical thing with a turtle.”
“Did it have vegetables in it?”
The cat shook his head. “Nah.”
Eric poked his beak closer to the screen. “Wait. Is that a carrot?”
Fluffy nodded. “A zombie carrot.”

What Happened to Oswald

Back to today, only three hours ago, right after the turtle showed up…

“That’s right my minions, drag him away. Take him to the grav lift.”
Two virtual zombie carrots hauled Oswald, aka Le Pingouin Noir, across the floor and into the lift, transporting the unconscious Oswald to the auxiliary VR space before strapping him into a peculiar looking chair. Then a helmet with wires attached was plunked on his head.
“Wake up, Oswald!” The turtle’s voice screamed directly into Oswald’s brain and he awoke with a start.
“Good, you need to be conscious for this next part to work.”
