Nostalgia’s Truth

Painting yesteryear in soft shades of mauve,
forsaking the bloody grime of foundation,
reworking history in those pretty petals of lies
Rose-coloured delusions never end well

Remembering yesterday in soft focus filters,
while spinning those fabricated falsehoods
as actuality, so stable in your certainty
Rose-coloured delusions never end well

Wrapping nostalgia in pink velvet ribbons,
rejecting veracity’s intricate complexity
in favour of a comforting dishonesty
Rose-coloured delusions never end well
