Sorry for the long absence, but between editing and a bout of the flu, time has not been my friend. But I’m back this week with three more dark drabbles about love gone wrong, so enjoy.

Upon The Throne
A kingdom cursed, they say, the rumours and the whispers, our prosperity laid waste by a cruel, vengeful witch. Best avoid the blighted lands and their sad fate…
Bah. Why should I care? I sit upon my rotted throne, naught but bones and the weight of my crown, a tormented spirit trapped in my undying, decayed corpse. All I had was lost…
Unless they can break the curse, they can all stay away.
Damn the witch for her dark magic, and damn myself. I destroyed it all for the one thing she denied to me.
Why couldn’t she love me?
Ghost in the Woods
Why did you leave me here? Alone in the woods. I wander through the trees, but I can’t find the way out. I call for you, but you never answer me. Why did you abandon me? I did everything for you. I protected you.
We killed them together.
Yet, you still turned on me. I remember the knife, the blood. Watching your face as I died. Was it her? Did you kill me to have her? Will she be buried beside me one day? Like I’m buried with the others?
She won’t last. She’ll never love you like I did.
Vampire’s Kiss
You always hurt the ones you love. Or kill them.
I never set out to harm them, yet I bore easily, and once they lose their looks…well, it’s inevitable I will feed. Humans are quite gullible; convincing them that feeding is erotic is amazingly simple. Once they get used to it, slaughtering them is unavoidable. The blood frenzy can’t be avoided forever.
I wasn’t sad about this last one, though. As beautiful as she was to look at, things didn’t work out. She constantly complained, was never satisfied, always wanted expensive gifts.
So needy.
But a perfect meal. Most delicious.
