Here’s a poem that came to me this morning in response to what’s been happening in the United States. The reason why we have to fight against oppression in ANY form.
Freedom Falls
Freedom spirals in freefall,
descending into the grim abyss,
when eyes turn blind, turn cold,
endorsing abuse with silence
When neighbours are deemed
not worthy of compassion, respect
because they are not citizens
because their skin is the āwrongā colour
because they do not have the same
religion
gender
sexuality
Freedom falls when
we become the inhuman monstersā¦
