Willow by the River

Weeping branches flow to the water’s edge,
stout roots twist deep in abundant soil
A picturesque scene, just beyond the hedge

A drifting breeze wafts weeds and sedge;
in swirling wind, boughs dance and coil
Weeping branches flow to the water’s edge

Scurried footprints adorn the nearby ledge
where wildlife abounds in unending toil
A picturesque scene, just beyond the hedge

In the stream, a leaf, caught on a sandy wedge
bobs eagerly against the wet, bubbling roil
Weeping branches flow to the water’s edge

And the chirping birds, all song and fledge
echo the season as their tones embroil
a picturesque scene, just beyond the hedge

Your shrouded retreat, nature’s perfect pledge,
an immaculate sensation no one can spoil
Weeping branches flow to the water’s edge,
a picturesque scene, just beyond the hedge
