Drabble Wednesday: Virtual Pitches

Three more Frankie and Joni stories today, as our gang of misfits look for new programming ideas. Enjoy.

Once Upon a Time

“Picture it,” Frankie’s voice dropped, and his hand swept out in a half-circle. “It’s a dark and stormy night. A lone traveller is walking the road, desperate to escape the weather. Suddenly, he sees it!”
“What!” Eric the Viking chicken squawked excitedly.
“A tavern! A lifesaver. He rushes forward and bursts inside.” Frankie paused. “As the traveller steps into the dark, dimly lit inn, he realizes it is full of werewolves. Heads swivel, dozens of beady eyes fix on him.” The man gulps and says, “Oh, dear. This was the wrong day to wear a red hooded cloak.”
I groaned.

Fantasy Elephants

“What did you say?” I stared at Frankie, not certain I heard him correctly.
“Fantasy elephants. It came to me in a dream. A dancing circus of fantasy elephants.”
“Um, what’s the difference between fantasy elephants and real elephants?” I asked, but wasn’t sure I wanted to know.
“They have silver wings and wear frilly pink tutus. Plus, they are a violet colour with pink polka dots. They fly around granting wishes and staging interpretive dances numbers for children. We can program huge musical production numbers.”
I gaped, and then I smiled. “You know, that just might work.”
Frankie grinned.

Love, Cow Style

“A bovine love story?” I snorted. “Really? That’s Doctor Quakenboss’ pitch?”
Frankie nodded. “Starring Arabella and himself. A reality show chronicling their romance.”
“Hmmm. We haven’t had a fresh reality show in ages, but the cow angle…that might be a hard sell.”
“The other cows have agreed to appear as extras and Eric wants to be the villain of the piece, the jilted love interest bent on revenge.”
“That’s better, still…I don’t know if we can sell it.”
“Using the cows will cut down on programming costs.”
“Now that’s something Corporate will get behind. Add it to the pitches.”
