Sorry I’ve been absent since April, but there have been things happening and my schedule has been crazy (I’ll be posting about what’s going on soon). But here are three new fantasy drabbles.

The Prophecy Guild
“What type of absurd prophecy are we dealing with this time? Dame Ryca’s patented foretold doom, her return of evil, or her fated ruler?” Serren sighed.
“Foretold doom opposed by a fated warrior.”
“Good. They usually go well. For us at least.”
“Um, there is a slight, well, snag.”
Oh dear. Serren clenched a fist. “What now?”
“There are three people that fit the ‘fated warrior’ criteria. We don’t know which one we’re supposed to send out.”
Serren relaxed. “No problem. We’ll send all three to fight the doom. Chances are this warrior will die anyway, what’s two more bodies?”
The Fated Ones?
Three men were shoved in the main guild hall by their abductors, who fled, slamming the door behind them. The awaiting guild official nodded at them, trying to smile at the angry, glaring males.
“Greetings, and welcome esteemed guests—”
“Guests? You kidnapped us!” One man shouted his displeasure.
“Well, um, yes, technically, but your participation is, well, mandatory.”
“Participation? In what?”
“Ah, yes.” The official sighed, glad to be back on script. “You have been chosen.” He quickly handed them all a rolled parchment. “Follow these instructions.”
“Chosen? Not for a prophecy quest?”
“I’m afraid so, yes.”
They all groaned.
Results
Serren glanced at his assistant. “How’s the latest ‘chosen one’ prophecy going? Have they vanquished the doom yet?”
“Not quite, but the Eldritch Whatever lost the majority of his minions in the last battle. Unfortunately, the village of Eldinburgh was destroyed, and we lost one of the ‘chosen ones’. Condolences and compensation packages were sent to his family.”
“Too bad about Eldinburgh.” Serren sighed. “What’s the timeline for the other two?”
“We expect the final battle next week, with a thousand year vanquishing of the Eldritch Whatever. It’s unclear on the fate of anyone else.”
“Sounds acceptable. Keep me updated.”
