National Poetry Month – Day 25: Transmogrification

Today’s prompt was transmogrification and the form attempted was a mirrored refrain.

Transmogrification

The journey of society begins
with hope of potential sublime
Lost in a sea of indifferent faces
broken by the turning of time

Slights and barbs reflect
insincere fundamental graces,
broken by the turning of time
Lost in a sea of indifferent faces

Stumbling, struggling in the dark,
misplaced in a shifting paradigm
Lost in a sea of indifferent faces
broken by the turning of time

Swallowed by the maddening crowd;
fractured dreams, abolished traces
Broken by the turning of time,
lost in a sea of indifferent faces

Staring at the latest smile,
that fears no reason or rhyme
Lost in a sea of indifferent faces
broken by the turning of time
