Today’s poem is a Villanelle from the prompt, beyond the farthest star.

Beyond the Farthest Star

Beyond the reach of infinity’s gaze,
past the edge of the blackest night
we journey alone, amid stalwart days

Bound in steel, a shell-like maze
of humanity’s aspiration in flight
Beyond the reach of infinity’s gaze

New horizons ahead, discovery ablaze
to leave behind the petty and trite
We journey alone, amid stalwart days

An inaugural trip, a first phase
One step toward a future bright
Beyond the reach of infinity’s gaze

Across the system’s rim in praise
as our home dwindles from sight
We journey alone, amid stalwart days

Destined to travel the galaxy’s byways
Questing together, just starfaring knights
Beyond the reach of infinity’s gaze
we journey alone, amid stalwart days
