Drabble Wednesday: A Prophecy’s Work Is Never Done

We finished up the prophecy tale from last week with three more drabbles. Enjoy.

Things Went Wrong

“Sir, we have a problem.”
Serren looked up to see his assistant in the doorway. “What now?”
“The ‘chosen one’ prophecy has hit a snag.”
“Don’t tell me they didn’t vanquish the Eldritch Whatever?”
“No, that went fine. It’s safely contained for another,” the assistant looked at his notes, “one thousand, four hundred and eighty-seven years. The problem is the remaining chosen one. He has turned villainous, rampaging with the remaining minion army.”
“Not again.” Serren sighed. “I keep telling them we need to add trauma counselors to these quests. Go to the stables and tell Dell to deploy Fluffy.”

Fluffy

Talbert, Serren’s assistant, muttered as he walked to the stables. “How can anything called Fluffy help? Razed villages, trade routes attacked, we need the King’s guard.”
“Can I assist you?”
Glancing up at a burly man standing in front of the stables, Talbert asked, “Are you Dell?”
The man nodded.
“We need to deploy, uh, Fluffy. To the North, to deal with a corrupt chosen one.”
“Yah, Fluffy can take care of that. I’ll need specifics, though.”
Talbert handed him a scroll.
Dell gestured for him to follow, leading Talbert into a stall housing a giant three-headed wolf.
“Meet Fluffy.”

The End?

Talbert entered Serren’s office. “We have the final report from the North and Fluffy’s assignment.”
“Go on. Did the problem get solved?”
Talbert nodded. “Fluffy hunted down and dispatched the chosen one and most of his army in less than,” he glanced at his notes, “three days. The few remaining minions fled. We sent our clean up crews to dispose of the entrails, severed limbs, and other body parts. As well as,” Talbert felt his stomach churn, “the copious amounts of wolf spew and excrement.”
“Yes, Fluffy’s unfortunate side effect. Anything else?”
“Well, another prophecy scroll is glowing.”
“Oh, shit!”
