Moral Sacrifice

What would you sacrifice for comfort?
A stranger’s life?
Your neighbour’s life?
Your humanity?

Would you tow the party line
for that extra crust of bread?
Forsaking your compassion
until the world bleeds red?

Blind your eyes to unspeakable acts
while the angels weep on high?
Would you sacrifice your soul
and let the monsters in?
