Day 30 National Poetry Month: Sword of the Moon

It’s the last day of National Poetry Month and the final poem is free verse and fantasy themed, from the prompt, Sword of the Moon. Enjoy.

Sword of the Moon

Prophecy entwined in gossamer
that bloodborn radiance of gods,
to win and wear the gilded crown
and wield the sword of the moon

Fearful voices clammer and decry,
yet no heed nor mercy granted,
only sacrifice to the gilded crown
brandishing the sword of the moon

Now all lay conquered and subjugated
prophecy sated in sufficient blood
with reverence to the gilded crown
and the lethal sword of the moon
