Day 17 National Poetry Month: Smoke in the Rear View

Yet, another free verse poem today, from the prompt, Smoke in the Rear View.

Smoke in the Rear View

Let it all burn, my dumpster fire
as I speed away
tires spinning gravel and skidding
over asphalt

Cleanse my life in purifying fire
crash and burn
annihilate the toxicity I survived
driving fast

They can’t catch me now, not ever
I’m flying
it’s all ashes, and dark, dusky smoke
in the rear view
