Unleash the Chickens
A horde of feral chickens streamed into the room to swarm around Dr. Stein and Eric. Stein chuckled, the sound barely audible over the clucking.
“See. I have an army now. You can’t win.”
Debbie grinned, her teeth seeming more like a threat than a friendly gesture. Then she stomped her hoof. A glowing web of energy spread out across the floor freezing every feral chicken in their place. The clucking ceased and the silence fell like corn from a feed bucket.
Eric and Dr. Stein stared at Debbie in disbelief.
“No one told me the sheep could do that!”
An Offer
Dr. Stein sputtered (ignoring Eric’s previous whining), “A time freeze? That’s unfair, not to mention Deus Ex Machina.”
Debbie shrugged her woolly shoulders.
“Well, it won’t do you any good!” Dr. Stein whipped out a device, his finger poised over a big red button.
Debbie halted mid-growl.
“Ah, you know what this means. Good. Now maybe you’ll listen. I’m not the villain here. I’m trying to make a better future. So things with the chimps didn’t work out, and the chicken is obviously useless.”
Eric cried, “Hey!”
Dr. Stein smiled. “Why don’t we work together, Debbie?”
Debbie farted in reply.
The Big Red Button
The room infused with the scent of manure mixed with sulphur and jasmine.
Dr. Stein gagged. “Not the sheep farts!”
Eric the Viking took a long whiff. “Ah, the scent of the barnyard.” He also noticed the feral fowl next to him twitch their wings. He clacked his beak as Debbie and Dr. Stein glared at each other. Eric watched the other chickens start to move.
“Useless am I?” Eric shouted triumphantly, adding, “To me chickens! Attack the sheep and the doctor!”
All hell broke loose.
Then Dr. Stein pushed the red button.
Everyone in the room screamed, then vanished.
