National Poetry Month Day 23: Blinking in the Dark

Posting late again today, but I have the second prompt chosen by a member of my reader group, Blinking in the Dark. I give you a chant poem, enjoy.

Blinking in the Dark

We look for meaning,
we search for light,
fumbling against the edges
that cut our skin
Images blur as we focus,
blinking in the dark

Jumbled lies, hidden truth
We sort the changes
into black and white
and wonder why we break
Society blurs as we focus,
blinking in the dark

We scream our pain
We fight for justice
as the cruel laughter echoes
The world blurs as we focus,
blinking in the dark
