Drabble Wednesday: Immortality Didn’t Go As Planned

Sorry for all the absences, but I’m back with three drabbles today. Stories of immortality and futures that did go quite right. Enjoy.

Eternity in the Garden

They come to admire the garden, the gentle beat of footsteps along the path. Some revel in the scent of roses; others linger by the pond and feed the fish. Few notice my presence. If they do, I’m merely another object to admire, the pretty marble statue of a weeping lady.
No one wonders why I weep.
Three hundred years existing as a marble statue instead of a human would make anyone cry. Never wish for immortality in the presence of a wizard with a malicious sense of humour and a bad heart.
If I could still sigh, I would.

Pick Your Poison

“What’s your poison, good sirs?” A dapper man behind the bar addressed the two confused gentlemen who sat down. “The Down and Dirty Martini? The Slow Death Gin Fizz? Or perhaps the house specialty, the Southside Slice?” The bartender smiled. “Our drinks are guaranteed to go down smooth and take you straight to the afterlife.”
The men looked at each other. “How did we get here?”
“Ah, newbies. This is sentencing, gents, for whatever crimes you committed. The gods sent you here for one literal last drink.” He chuckled at their shock. “Now choose, gentlemen, your drink to die for.”
