Drabble Wednesday is back for this week, with three creepy stories. Enjoy.

Derelict
The old church stood on the hill, weathered, crumbling, abandoned. Vegetation grew around its foundation, wind blew through broken windows, and a door hung on one hinge. It deteriorated into a prolonged death.
Another forsaken building no one wanted.
Until the sun set and the night settled into darkness.
It began with a shimmer, a red glow along the fractured window glass, and murmurs from behind the door. Next, shadows shifted, rising from the ground to slither inside and meld into the pitch black interior.
Then hell itself erupted and swallowed the church in fire, burning until the morning dawn…
Haunted
Charred ruins and the smell of smoke.
All that’s left of my life.
And me, of course, the sad little ghost floating in the middle of the ashes. No, I’m not being dramatic. They hauled my dead body away yesterday morning. All scorched and crispy flesh and bone.
They think my husband started the fire. They hauled him off in handcuffs the night of the blaze. I’m not surprised they suspected him. He’s a wife beater. But he’s not guilty of this.
You see, I took it as long as I could. The abuse.
Then I burned it all down.
Mystery
Calm seas and a beautiful sunny day. The yacht bobbed on the water, drifting with the current. Silent, empty, not a soul on board. No purring engine, no flickering instrument lights. For all outward appearances, a deserted boat; perhaps a vessel unmoored and swept out on the ocean with the tide.
Until a closer look. Two partially eaten, cold dinners in the galley. The glasses of half-drunk wine. The cracked mirror in the cabin. The smears of red on the deck and railings.
The eerie sensation of something not quite right.
What happened?
The question you ask as you leave…
