Three more cow drabbles today.

Love is in the Data
“Cownappers!”
“Interlopers!”
“Felons!”
“Hooligans!”
I stared as two sets of injured cows traded insults over the two missing cows. Arabella had retrieved her bonnet, and the crushed flower wobbled in time with their voices. Beside me, Frankie frowned at his tablet as he pushed buttons.
“Um,” he said, “I’m not sure anybody kidnapped the cows.”
The chatter stopped, and all cow eyes turned to Frankie.
“According to the trackers I added to your programs, they’re together. And their parameters are normal, well, except their Love-o-Meter. That’s off the charts.”
“Love-o-Meter?” I raised an eyebrow.
“Purely for data collection.”
“Yeah, sure.”
Cows in Love
Warm noses touched in affection. Tails flicked in synchronized movement. Hooves excitedly pawed at the floor. Fred and Janine only had eyes for each other. They totally didn’t see us standing in the doorway.
“See, the Love-o-Meter doesn’t lie,” Frankie sounded smug, as we all stared at the lovecows.
“Fred! How dare you consort with the enemy!” Doctor Quakenboss stomped a hoof, while Arabella gasped her outrage. The chorus of Jake and Winston echoed with, “How dare you!”
To the left, three werecows growled, with one snarling, “Janine! What are you doing?”
Fred and Janine turned, replying, “We’re soul mates.”
Corporate Saves the Day?
Watching all the cows argue over the declaration of soul mates, Frankie remarked, “Hmmm, this would be a good update for the holo vid. A star-crossed zombie/shifter cow romance.” He typed into his tablet and waited. “Ooooh, Corporate likes the idea.”
“What? How did you get an answer that fast?”
Frankie shrugged.
“Hey,” I shouted over the din. “Guess what? You’re all in the show now.” I nudged Frankie. “Tell them.”
Frankie cleared his throat as the cows quieted. “Corporate has approved a new focus. On Fred and Janine. A whole Romeo and Juliet thing.”
“Well, this changes everything.”
