A Wednesday Poem

I didn’t quite finish the drabbles this week so I’ll give you a poem instead. I wrote this one for a writing exercise, I hope you enjoy. Drabble Wednesday will be back next week with Frankie and Joni.

Unsatisfactory Conclusions

in a void, empty and isolated
connective
turn your back on what was

rejective

slamming into drum beats
of confined existence
monotone consistence

screaming at the closed door
protective
all you want is happiness
subjective

waves of crashing change
never outdistance
broken subsistence

swimming in alternate solutions
inflective
ignorance can’t be euphoria
defective

slivers of exterior defences
forming scarred resistance
over angry persistence

in a void, empty and isolated
turn your back on what was
screaming at the closed door
all you want is happiness
swimming in alternate solutions
ignorance can’t be euphoria
