Be Afraid of the Dark…

Today I begin prompts suggested by friends and family on Facebook, and the first one on deck is The Mark of Humanity. No form today, I went with free verse for this one.
The Mark of Humanity
The mark of humanity isn’t…
partisan political games
moral superiority
material wealth
brutality or cruelty
and your rights don’t justify…
…selfish behavior
The mark of humanity isn’t…
animalistic
egocentric
arrogant
condescending
vile or callous
you can’t hide your unfeeling heart…
…behind anonymity
The mark of humanity is…
kindness
compassion
forgiveness
generosity
honesty
loyalty
responsibility
Why don’t you try being human?
…you might like it.
