Be Afraid of the Dark…
Posted on April 1, 2019 by afstewart
Today begins National Poetry Month and during April, I will once again write (or attempt to write) a poem a day. Here is my first poem to kick things off.
Majestic Empire
From the ashes of old,
a republic slain
in blood and hubris
to rise anew
on columns of marble
Yet, in the shadows
of remnants, haunting
the foundation of ambition
cracked the stone
with an overreaching conceit
