Day Three – National Poetry Month: Ghosted

Today’s poem is a bit later than normal as the morning got away from me, but here is another offering from the prompt, Ghosted.

Ghosted

Isolated in a realm of cruelty
clinging to the forlorn raft
of empathy, compassion, decency

as we float like shattered ghosts

Discordant heads shouting insults
and inanities of misinformation
bludgeons of detestable words

while we float like shattered ghosts

Why did so many vanish into malice
choose to exist in a reality of fear?
We will not surrender our humanity

So we float like shattered ghosts
