Day 19 – National Poetry Month: Last Refrain

Not sure where recess of mind this poem came from today, but it’s part chant, part free verse from the prompt, Last Refrain. Enjoy.

Last Refrain

Warm sunlight fading past the window
at the end of day
haunting notes of yesteryear playing
on the violin
A last refrain of memories

Morning dawn streaming in the window
past the aged violin
soft breath, sweet dreams of an old man
yearning for music
The last refrain of living

  1. The poem reminds us about some things we get attached to because they have a certain meaning to us, but have to get rid of them either because they’re broken or we found other things that we love.
