National Poetry Month Day 9: Revival Tents

A touch of the controversial with today’s poem.

Revival Tents

Hallelujah, my children!
Today, we have congregated
to attend the word of our Lord
But first our coffers must be sated

Step up, your preacher speaks,
Heaven will be your final reward
But first our coffers must be sated
to attend the word of our Lord

Praise be, my children
Flock to me, be captivated
to attend the word of our Lord
But first our coffers must be sated

Are you not entranced?
All we need is to be adored
But first our coffers must be sated
to attend the word of our Lord

Don’t question, don’t think
Responsibilities abdicated,
to attend the word of our Lord
But first our coffers must be sated
