National Poetry Month – Day 16: Silent Infinity

For Day 16 I have the prompt, silent infinity, and the form of a Catena Rondo.

Silent Infinity

Shadows stretch beyond the ken
winding beside the long road
Voices silent and heartbeats slowed
Shadows stretch beyond the ken

Winding beside the long road
you can hear the footsteps falling,
and the hint of wee babes bawling,
winding beside the long road

You can hear the footsteps falling
in the echo of the ticking clock,
while waters lap the still calm loch
You can hear the footsteps falling

In the echo of the ticking clock,
hushed lies and words unspoken
Perpetuity remains unbroken
in the echo of the ticking clock

Shadows stretch beyond the ken
winding beside the long road
voices silent and heartbeats slowed
Shadows stretch beyond the ken
