Here is my annual poem for Remembrance Day.
It is not my usual tone for this day, but it is how I’m feeling this year.

How We Honour The Dead
Lest we forget
Words spoken to stir
disquieting memories
to warn of horrors
to honour the fallen
Yet…
We have forgotten
Blossomed the world
in cruelty
wrapped in nationalism,
in misplaced pride
and lies
Sacrifices in blood and lives
buried in history
have been disgraced,
spurned, trampled
under ruthless indifference
What did they defend?
Die for?
If we embrace the horror
they fought against?
