National Poetry Month 2023 Day 1: Colours

Welcome to April, 2023 and National Poetry Month. The first prompt on my list was Colours and here’s today’s poem. Enjoy this little warm-up free verse.

Colours

Vivid splashes rolling
across the canvas
in brushstrokes shedding
captured images
Passion smeared
in dyed medium

Scarlet bounding
from the shadows
Sapphire enveloping
the brightest sky
A soft summer day
caught impasto
with the artist’s skill
