A Poem For Remembrance Day

This year’s poem is a bit different than what I usually post for this day. It’s not so much about the past and what we lost, but today’s soldier and their suffering. There is also an enlightening video discussion on the topic of PTSD following the poem.

PTSD

It’s the silence
between the quiet pauses
where the monsters grow
with the unspoken words
that fester in the wounds

It’s the time beyond
the haunted hours
in the memories and the dreams
where they sing their pain

In the ricochets of war
and the echoes of aftershock
the ghosts make their home
