National Poetry Month – Day two: Screaming Gin and Ignorance

Here we are at day two in April’s National Poetry Month. This year I asked my reader group and Facebook friends to supply me with a list of prompts and they delivered and then some with some interesting and strange ideas. Yesterday I did a poem for the prompt “faith” and today I have “screaming gin and ignorance”. Here’s the poem I wrote based on that prompt.

Screaming Gin and Ignorance

Pour a glass
to drown the voices
shouting opinions
at the wind

Common sense
did a runner
Scared away
by misplaced ego

So pour a glass
to drown the voices
shouting nonsense
at the wind
