Ferry Ride
One coin for a passage
laid against the tongue
in the silence of mourning
The rhythm of the dirge,
an echo of the River Styx
One coin for a passage
A glint of silver in the sun
payment for the ferryman
laid against the tongue
Honouring rite and ritual
while the living move onward
in the silence of mourning
