Day 5 – National Poetry Month: Silent Wind

Welcome to day five with a free verse poem from the prompt, Silent Wind. This one popped out of my head this morning and is a bit sad.

Silent Wind

vacant buildings
no sound of laughter
only distant gunfire
On the breeze, travels
the scent of smoke

charred ruins
of vibrancy and home
it’s gone now
Nothing but the wind
wandering quietly
